Islands of the Mediterranean cruise itinerary map, from Rome to Barcelona
Embark Port/Debark Port
Port of Call

You’ve never gone island hopping quite like this. A departure from Rome gets this voyage started. Head a bit off the beaten path to explore the foodie haven of the Testaccio neighborhood and the Villa Borghese Gardens.

Along the Amalfi Coast, experience turquoise tones and sweeping postcard-worthy views. Embark on an Azamara Shore Excursion in Giardini Naxos, Sicily, to towering Mount Etna and the hilltop town of Taormina to experience this island's true splendor.

Next, you’ll arrive for an overnight on the island of Malta. A tiny city, surrounded by massive honey-colored limestone walls, Valletta has a lot to protect—including Caravaggio’s famous painting “Beheading of St. John the Baptist”.

Spend the day in Xlendi, on the remote island of Gozo, the second largest in the Maltese archipelago. See the Ggantija temples—the oldest freestanding structures on earth—or see one of Gozo’s other main attractions, the 75-foot tall Azue Window.

Then it's on to Corsica and the fortified town of Porto Vecchio. Walk the cobbled streets of the Old Town or board a ferry to the Lavezzi Islands nature reserve.

Beautiful Alghero on the island of Sardinia offers a mix of Italian and Catalan influences. Indulge in medieval history, fine architecture, beaches, and pasta.

You’ll also stay overnight on the island of Menorca. The smaller size of Azamara PursuitSM enables the ship to sail down the canal into the striking city of Mahon. Striking, too, is the organ in the Church of Santa Maria. The beaches though, are where you want to be. Punta Prima with its translucent water is one to try. Sip pomada—a drink of local gin mixed with lemon soda—and watch the sun dip into the Mediterranean.

Conclude your voyage in Barcelona. Though not an island, this cosmopolitan gem will not disappoint.
