Welcome the new decade in style with a spectacular South American voyage. Beginning in beautiful Buenos Aires, we set sail for the artistic enclave or Punta del Este, Uruguay. With an overnight stay, you’ll have plenty of time for exploring contemporary museums and soaking up some sun. Celebrate Christmas at sea with a holiday feast and plenty of festive fun.
Next, we’re off to vibrant São Paolo, where a late stay in port gives ample time to explore. Head to the top of the Banespa skyscraper to scope out the city, or savor delicious street food inspired by global flavors. Next up is a visit to Ilhabelha, then it’s off to the former gold rush port and chic seaside resort in Parati and Buzios before your arrival in Rio. We’ll spend the night in this energetic city where the atmosphere is electric, before taking a short sail to the famous Copacabana Beach. Ring in the New Year with us on board, or samba down to the renowned beach to revel with the locals.
A day at sea is the perfect way to recharge after the night’s festivities. Lounging poolside or treating yourself to a spa experience are surefire cures anything that ails you. We make land next in Montevideo, an elegant, ornate city with eclectic modern touches, for another overnight stay. Stroll along sprawling La Rambla, or sample meat and seafood grilled to perfection at the 19th century Harbour Market. We’re back to Buenos Aires to conclude this incredible holiday voyage.
Welcome to elegant, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, with its European colonial architecture and colorful mix of cultures. Each district has its own style: enjoy Palermo with its mansions and parks; shop in the chic boutiques of Soho and Hollywood; and soak up the Italian flavor of La Boca where tango dancers and artists display their talents for passersby.
Punta del Este's white sand beaches are popular with families and the glitterati alike. Fashionable cafes and shops line the streets, and an evening harbor-front stroll will no doubt include a serenade by street musicians and entertainers. The town projects an artsy vibe, with the Brava Beach open air sculpture park, displaying large works in steel, concrete, wood, iron, and marble.
Relax and reflect on your journey thus far with a few days of fun at sea. Get a behind-the-scenes look at life onboard with an Insider’s View Tour, attend a destination lecture to learn more about your next port-of-call, or try your luck at our onboard casino.
Want to really unwind? Watch the world go by and sip a complimentary drink poolside, or say “ahh” with a visit to Sanctum Spa.
Whatever your heart desires, you’ll have no trouble finding it in São Paulo—Brazil’s largest and most diverse city. From incredible museums to delicious food, cultural landmarks, and relaxing green space, Azamara can help you discover the local flavor of São Paulo.
This “beautiful island” lives up to its name, and today belies its once lurid reputation as a hideout of smugglers and pirates. State park trails provide access to a luscious jungle, with numerous waterfalls where you can stop for a swim along the way. And when you work up an appetite there is nothing better than shrimp right off the boat, accompanied by Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha.
Parati's Portuguese colonial architecture remains undisturbed, and nothing spoils the mood, not even traffic, as no cars are allowed in the old town center. Follow the gold trail into the hinterlands in a 4WD, or tour a sugar estate and Cachaça distillery, where they brew up the strong sugar cane liquor that is the key ingredient in the national cocktail, the Caipirinha.
Originally settled by European pirates and slave traders, this picturesque fishing village is now decidedly chic. Surrounded by hills draped in luxuriant vegetation, this paradise found is a high-end resort with an international flair. More than twenty beaches beckon sun-worshipers and water sport enthusiasts, and the sophisticated boutiques of Rua das Pedras will delight shoppers.
Samba on down to Rio, easy going except for the four days of frenetic, feather-festooned Carnaval. No journey to Rio would be complete without a visit to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World—Christ the Redeemer. At the top of Corcovado Mountain, this 125-foot-tall statue of Jesus Christ spreads its arms over Rio and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Guanabara Bay.
Copacabana is a slice of Brazilian paradise. With its combination of lush jungle-clad mountains, historic buildings, and lively restaurants and bars, it’s like no other beach on Earth. New Year’s Eve at Copa is second only to Carnaval in the ranks of Rio’s highly developed party culture. Stunning fireworks at the stroke of midnight welcome the New Year with explosions of color and light.
Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.
In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.
Montevideo exudes European charm and elegance, with broad boulevards, fountains, stately squares, and irresistible sidewalk cafes. Take in the Art Nouveau pedestrian mall, Art Deco Centenary Stadium, and American Embassy designed by I.M. Pei. Most of the nation’s countryside is farm or ranchland, and the life of the cowboy, or gaucho, is part of the local lore.
