Pre-Voyage Land and Sea Packages
Arrive in the frontier city of Calgary to begin your pre-cruise journey west across Canada’s wild interior. Take in the city from high above at the top of Calgary Tower. As rugged as it is modern, spend the day exploring before boarding a motor coach the following morning to beautiful Banff.
Untouched natural wonder is all around, and you’ll stay in a hotel that could easily be mistaken for a castle. A glacier adventure is on tap the following day, along with a visit to picture-perfect Lake Louise. Your journey aboard Rocky Mountaineer begins the next day. Leave Banff behind and travel in style and comfort through breathtaking landscapes never seen from the road.
Travel through tunnels, across deep canyons, and cross the Continental Divide. Stay overnight in Kamloops then continue your train journey to a metropolis that embraces nature at every turn in Vancouver. Enjoy a half-day tour of the city’s most iconic sights before boarding your Alaskan voyage.
Upon arrival in the Stampede City, transfer to your hotel, the Fairmont Palliser. This landmark property sets the standard for luxury hotels in Calgary. You’ll have the rest of the day to explore this friendly, fun city at your leisure. Get a bird’s eye view of the city from Calgary Tower—one of the highest 360-degree observation decks in the world. Bursting with unbridled frontier spirit, Calgary is an exciting starting point for your adventure across Western Canada.
After an overnight in Calgary, board a comfortable motor coach and blaze a trail west on a full day tour to beautiful Banff. Along the way, Canada’s rugged landscapes unfold at every turn. Experience the otherworldly rock formations of the Hoodoos and feel the spray of the rushing Bow Falls. Arrive in Banff and settle in to your 4-star hotel for an evening surrounded by majestic mountain scenes.
The natural wonder of the Rockies is waiting for you. Tour the stunning Icefields Parkway with its sweeping valleys, brilliantly blue lakes, and sky-scraping mountains. Drive over a 10,000-year-old glacier on the all-terrain Ice Explorer and experience a pristine world of ice and snow. Next it’s on to the crown jewel of the Rockies—the Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise. Relax at this incredible mountain resort or hike along the turquoise glacier-fed lake before returning to Banff for the night.
Board Rocky Mountaineer in Banff and travel to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Soak in the spectacular scenery of mountain passes, remarkable tunnels, rocky lakeshores, and vast ranchlands from the comfort of a domed train car. This is the only passenger rail service to travel this remarkable route, of which highlights include the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon, and the Continental Divide.
As you travel west once more from Kamloops to Vancouver, the dramatic desert-like landscape of the interior gives way to winding river canyons and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Marvel at steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River, and witness the racing waters of Hell’s Gate at breathtaking Fraser Canyon. Your unforgettable journey aboard Rocky Mountaineer concludes in Vancouver with an overnight at the modern, luxurious Fairmont Pacific Rim.
Explore this cosmopolitan city that blends skyscrapers with sky-high mountains in the morning, then transfer to the cruise terminal the following day to begin your Alaskan voyage with Azamara Club Cruises®.
Voyage Itinerary
After your journey west, it’s time to set sail. This convenient Vancouver roundtrip pairs Pacific Northwest city life with Alaska’s spectacular scenery. Before your voyage, visit beautiful Stanley Park, Granville Market, or nearby Butchart Gardens. You’ve got two days to experience buzzing, beautiful Seattle, where you can eat, shop and soak up the local vibe at Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square and Seattle’s famous music clubs. Then we sail to Alaska’s Inside Passage with views of glaciers, peaceful fjords and native wildlife. Visit Sitka, where you’ll find authentic 18th-century architecture set in stunning natural beauty. In Ketchikan, take a historic walking tour, learn about totem poles, or visit Tongass National Forest and beautiful Misty Fjords. You’ll have a late stay in Juneau, Alaska’s capital, with many options for town touring and hiking, dog sledding, or a canoe trip to Mendenhall Glacier. Skagway is all about the Alaskan gold rush; don’t miss a hair-raising ride on the historic White Pass narrow-gauge railway. Most cruise ships don’t stop at Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, but we do. Discover a spectacular waterfront park and welcoming pubs, or venture inland to explore more of Vancouver Island.
The only thing rising higher than the Vancouver skyline is its snow-capped mountains. In Vancouver, you can experience summer and winter on the same day! Start with a morning on the slopes at one of the nearby ski hills, then hit the beach for an afternoon relaxing by the water. After, try some delicious meals from all around the world and discover why Vancouver is the culinary capital of Canada.
Seattle may be the birthplace of Starbucks, but espresso machines are buzzing at coffeehouses on every corner. Venture beyond the city to breathtaking Snoqualmie Falls for a hike and a picnic and the powerful sight of the 268 foot crashing waterfall, one of the most stunning in the country. An exciting city in beautiful natural surroundings, Seattle is an alluring destination. Rain or shine.
Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.
In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.
Surrounded by lakes, rivers, and streams, the “Salmon Capital of the World” is an angler’s paradise. Hop on a charter and keep an eye out for Ketchikan’s other marine residents like orca and humpback whales, seals, and porpoises. Hike Married Man’s Trail, kayak the Misty Fjords, visit the Totem Heritage Center, and stroll Creek Street for quaint restaurants, bars, gift shops, and scenic views.
Stretching from the Juneau Icefield to the waterfront downtown, Juneau is a treasure trove of sights. Dig into the city’s gold mining history at Juneau Douglas City Museum, stroll down Historic South Franklin Street, go whale or iceberg watching, tour Mendenhall Glacier and the Tongass National Forest, or board the Mount Roberts Tramway for great dining, shopping, and easy access to hiking trails.
Take in historic sites like the storied Red Onion Saloon, the yellow-domed Golden North Hotel, and the decidedly rustic Arctic Brotherhood Hall. For a more detailed account, head to the Corrington Museum of Alaska History and the Skagway Museum to see every aspect of local history from mastodon fossils and native handwoven baskets to the pistol of Skagway’s official bad boy, Soapy Smith.
A walk around the city’s downtown brings you closer to its history with views of the Blockhouse, Russian Bishop’s House, St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, and the storied Castle Hill. Visit the Fortress of the Bear and the Alaska Raptor Center to get an up-close look at orphaned brown bear cubs, injured bald eagles, and other birds, and learn about both centers’ commitment to serving Alaska’s wildlife.

Nanaimo is a growing city with a vibrant downtown and pristine harbourfront. Teeming with museums, galleries, restaurants, and shopping, you won’t want to miss Nanaimo’s daily cannon firing ceremony, or opportunities to take in natural wonders like the Abyss and the Ammonite Falls. Elsewhere, follow the Nanaimo Bar Trail to try different takes on the city’s delicious namesake, the Nanaimo bar!
