Visit the esteemed Fabergé Museum. Centrally located in St. Petersburg in the recently renovated Shuvalov Palace, a gorgeous Neoclassical stunner on the Fontanka River, the Fabergé Museum is a private collection of over 4,000 works of decorative and other fine arts. Wander its halls and salons to admire pieces crafted from silver, gold, porcelain and bronze, plus rich paintings.

The hallmark of the Museum is the collection of nine Imperial Easter eggs ordered by the last two tsars of the House of Romanov, the second dynasty to rule Russia until the February Revolution led to the rise of Bolshevism. The collection also contains a selection of other significant works by Peter Carl Fabergé, characterized by the jeweler’s use of precious metals and gems in the tradition of Russia’s iconic pisanki Easter eggs. The artwork in this glorious museum marks a fascinating nexus of royal excess and folk culture that Russia hasn’t been seen since the days of the tsars.
