Discover Corfian music and traditions during this special performance by the Philharmonic Society of Corfu. Corfian musical traditions date back to the era when Corfu was under Venetian rule. Today, this small island is home to hundreds of musical clubs and associations. The Philharmonic Society of Corfu was established in 1840 and today features an association of musicians and bands that perform at festivals, provide musical education, and offer scholarships to aspiring musicians. While the musicians in the bands are not professionals, they are often teachers who promote the island’s rich musical traditions.
