Voyage to adventures above & below the sea

If you love adventures on the surface of a turquoise sea (and one would think you do if you’re sailing with Azamara!), then you’re in luck: There are more boat, kayak, and canoe excursions in Kas than you can shake a paddle at. And if being underwater is more your thing, you’re still in luck: Kas is one of Turkey’s top scuba-diving spots, with over a dozen dive centers in a place that has more turtles than residents.

To see some of those Turkish turtles in action, head to Patara Beach: Just 30 minutes away from Kas, this 11-mile-long white sandy beach is both part of a national park and a breeding ground for the endangered loggerhead turtle.

Of course, you may be more into history than turtles—and the surrounding Kekova region is a treasure trove of ancient Lycian culture, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Xanthos and Simena, a town half submerged by earthquakes during the 2nd century.

Then again, you may just want to grab a few kebaps and beverages, take a short walk to the 1st century BC Hellenistic Theatre, and enjoy a modern-day picnic while surrounded by olive trees and spectacular panoramic views of Kas.

Kekova, where history and nature have come together as one, shelters incredible beauties and ancient ruins for you to explore by land and sea from your glass bottom boat. Though the place is full of ruins, no excavations have been carried out on this island, so little is known about its magnificent history.
