The Birthplace of Robert Burns

Dating back to the 1200’s, the coastal town of Ayr is an attractive seaside destination for visitors as well as Scots, due to its proximity to Glasgow, located just 36 miles north.

Ayr is home to lovely beaches, a waterfront esplanade, and stunning views of The Isle of Arran.

It’s also the birthplace of “Scotland’s favorite son”, to whom you can pay homage at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, containing the world's largest collection of artifacts relating to Scotland’s bard.

Shop for fine Scottish goods along Newmarket Street and at Queens Court, visit a traditional tearoom, and with it being Scotland, it’s no surprise there are a number of public golf courses in Ayr (Belleisle, Seafield, and Dalmilling), perfect if you’re looking to fit in a round.

“There is no such uncertainty as a sure thing,” said Robert Burns. Not to disagree with Scotland’s favorite son, but it is a sure thing that a visit to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum will educate and delight.
