The night of Friday, February 21 was a special one for food lovers and travel lovers in Miami. Azamara Club Cruises joined forces with celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain and the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum to host "An Evening Aboard the SS Wolfsonian".
Bourdain curated a special dinner inspired by classic ocean liner menus from The Wolfsonian’s historic collection. The reception and dinner courses were prepared by celebrity chefs Daniel Boulud (Daniel), Andrew Carmellini (The Dutch), David McMillan and Fred Morin (Joe Beef), Francois Payard (FPB) and Eric Ripert (Le Bernardin).
Azamara Club Cruises CEO Larry Pimentel was joined by Captain Johannes Tysse, Executive Chef Robert van Rijsbergen and Cruise Director Eric De Gray.
The Wolfsonian Museum entryway was decorated with images chosen from their extensive collection of vintage ocean liner brochures. Historic ocean liner menus, ads, and even a Queen Mary purse from The Wolfsonian’s collection were displayed in cases for guests to view.
After dinner, Larry Pimentel and Miami Beach Mayor Phillip Levine presented an auction. Two Azamara cruises in the Azamara Club World Owner’s Suite were auctioned off, with proceeds of $44,000 going towards the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University and The Wolfsonian-FIU.
