Five late-night stays? Yes, please. Begin your voyage from the Doge’s Palace in Venice, and sail to Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia, an impressive masterpiece of ancient architecture, and the other most impressive Roman ruin in the world. Full of stone-paved pedestrian paths on which you can explore the palace’s treasures, this Croatian marvel is really a city within a city. There’s the Romanesque belfry, a 16th-century synagogue with stores selling exotic olive oils, and much more. Just outside the palace, there’s the Riva promenade, with palm trees, people from all over the world, and cafes under white awnings. Try any fish from the sea, with a glass of Croatian wine, and watch the boats bobbing in the harbor.
In Dubrovnik, you wander up. Up on the ancient walls or up in the cable car, this city of golden stone jutting out into the Adriatic must first be seen from above. Then you can wander within. The ship stays late here, so see the Franciscan monastery and the charming interior courtyard of the Rector’s Palace. Raise a toast to the sunset with a glass of rakija.
After a day at sea, spend three late nights getting to know Italy: Sorrento, in its cliffside splendor; Rome, which needs no explanation; and Livorno, offering enough time for a traditional Italian dinner in Florence. Then it’s one more late-night stay getting to know the fairytale kingdom of Monaco, where a tour of the confectionery factory in nearby Menton offers something for every sweet tooth. A final stop at the charming seaside village of Cassis brings this voyage to a close before you arrive in Barcelona, where one day is hardly enough.
Experience Venice, one of the most captivating—and romantic—cities in the world. Tour the city’s cobblestone streets and overarching bridges, or take to the water and explore the canals on a water taxi or gondola. As you make your way through the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shop, sample delicious Veneto wines, or people watch in Piazza San Marco.
Venture to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Diocletian’s Palace, which dates back to the 4th century. Let intuition be your guide as you spend the day meandering through the cobblestone streets. Wander down to the water’s edge and stroll along the Riva, the spectacular white marble-esque promenade. And if you do lose your bearings, one of the locals will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
From the moment you step beyond the stonewalls that protects Dubrovnik, you’ll understand what makes it so special. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is adorned with charming squares and centuries-old red-roofed buildings. Walk the walls for a spectacular view of the city, and if anything looks familiar, it’s probably because Dubrovnik is the home of King’s Landing on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.
In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.
Looking out from Sorrento is the isle of Capri. The island is divided into two main parts, Capri and Anacapri. Capri is full of Italian luxury, with designer stores and five-star hotels lining the streets, while Anacapri is slightly more down-to-earth. Take a relaxing chair lift ride to the very top of the island, as the views are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
Always enchanting, the Eternal City will captivate you—no matter how many times you visit. Walk in the steps of gladiators at the Coliseum, channel your inner statesman at the Forum, or gaze up in wonder at Michelangelo's masterwork at St. Peter's Basilica. Pasta and vino are a must, and there are plenty of places to relax and refuel after a day of exploration.
The port city of Livorno has many charms of its own: the canals of La Venezia Nuova (New Venice), which date back to the Medici era, the Mercato Centrale, and the chessboard-style Terrazza Mascagni promenade, to name a few. But Livorno is also the gateway to the magnificent art and architecture, palaces, churches and museums of Florence, as well as Pisa’s famous leaning tower. Decisions, decisions!
You don’t need luck on your side to have an unforgettable time in Monte Carlo! Home to the legendary Grand Casino and the Monaco Grand Prix—one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events—Monte Carlo lives up to its reputation in every way. Drive the Monaco Grand Prix route in a performance vehicle, visit the Grand Casino, or roll the dice and explore the breathtaking beauty of the city.
Cassis is set between the natural splendor of the calanques, long narrow inlets in the towering white limestone cliffs, and majestic Cap Canaille. It is a photogenic little town, with a harbor promenade lined by pastel houses on one side and bobbing wooden fishing boats on the other. For full immersion, find a seaside table and dive into a bowl of bouillabaisse, a dish the town is famous for.
Barcelona is a cosmopolitan masterpiece. With a history rich in art and architecture, medieval, Gothic, and modern influences can be seen all over the city. Start at the waterfront and stroll up the shady, tree-lined Las Ramblas boulevard and discover some of the city's best shopping and bustling cafes.
