The Heart of the Sunshine Coast
Nestled in the heart of the dreamily named Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba is a former sleepy surf town that has recently become a popular beach destination. In fact, it was even featured on the popular reality TV series The Amazing Race.
Mooloolaba Beach is one of the most famous and popular beaches on Australia’s east coast, so no visit would be complete without a trip to bury your toes in the powdery-white sand. Take to the water in a cruise on the canals, snorkeling in the sea, or diving with sharks. Head inland to swim in one of the secluded waterfalls in the area, and take in the tranquility that surrounds you.
Dine on world-class cuisine at the Mooloolaba Esplanade area overlooking the beach. Prawns are by far the most famous dish here, and whether you throw them on the barbie, sauté them in garlic and butter, or enjoy them in a fusion taco, you’ll be tempted to go back for seconds.
And no journey to Mooloolaba would be complete without a visit to the world-famous Australia Zoo, made famous by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. With lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) there are all kinds of exotic creatures to see.
Get up close and personal with some of Australia’s fascinating wildlife at the Australia Zoo. Visitors may recognize the zoo from the popular TV series The Crocodile Hunter hosted by Steve Irwin. The zoo houses a wide range of birds, mammals, and reptiles.
Overlooking the azure blue waters of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and the pristine Mooloolaba beach, the esplanade is the perfect place to soak up some sun. Be sure to also come with an appetite, some of the best dining on the Sunshine Coast can be found here.
Discover the world beneath the waves at this marine park and wildlife sanctuary. Walk through the shark tunnel and feel like you’re swimming with sharks, rays, eels, and colorful tropical fish without even having to get wet. Other exhibits feature sea otters, seals, crabs, and fresh water crocodiles.
