Valentine’s Day is coming up and although flowers and chocolates are nice, there’s no better gift than travel! These 2016 itineraries are perfect for couples that love travel.

Three-Day Getaway

August 19 to August 22

For those who’ve never been on a cruise, this quick weekend voyage is the perfect introduction. You’ll cruise round-trip from Rome, which means you can take as long as you like exploring the Eternal City before sailing off to two incredibly romantic ports.

Saint-Tropez oozes charm. Ever since the glamorous French actress Brigette Bardot set foot in the coastal town, it became an enticing hotspot for young jet-setters. Soak in the French Riviera sun on the beach or as you stroll along the promenade, then sip a café au lait or glass of rosé from a sidewalk café.

Up next is the delightful Italian village of Santa Margherita. Though beautiful in its own right, Santa Margherita is also a jumping off point for Portofino, Portovenere, or the picturesque Cinque Terre villages.

In Cinque Terre, the famous Via dell’Amore is a must for those seeking romance. After all, the trail is named “Lovers Lane”! This path from Riomaggiore to Manarola is wide, flat and paved and only two kilometers long.

For more adventurous couples the trail from Vernazza to Monterosso al Mare is the most difficult, but also the most rewarding. Though only three kilometers long, the tricky terrain means the hike is two-hours long and best left for those comfortable with lots of stairs and narrow, cliffside passages.

European Capitals

August 26 to September 9

This 14-Night voyage is perfect for couples who want to visit some of Europe’s greatest cities, whether for the first time or a return visit. This itinerary includes many overnight stays and late-night departures – that will give you plenty of time to enjoy dinner at a Michelin star restaurant in Antwerp, explore the cobblestoned lanes of Honfleur, and cruise Amsterdam’s canals.

Though Berlin isn’t renowned for romance, locals will tell you to escape to one of the city’s many parks to enjoy a quiet moment together. The grounds of the Charlottenburg Palace are particularly beautiful. Or, enjoy the many museums, art galleries and cafes the city has to offer.

Onboard, guests will enjoy beautiful views as we cruise the Oslo Fjord and the Scheldt River.

Most of the cities on this itinerary – like Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Berlin – have world reputations for being very gay-friendly, making it a fantastic option for our LGBTQ guests.

The Adriatic

July 3 to July 10

Guests on this cruise will sail round-trip from Venice, a city renowned for its amorous atmosphere. But the real romance lies off the beaten path in Croatia.

Hvar is known as the “Sunniest Place in Europe”, so it’s perfect for a trip to the beach. There’s also plenty of vineyards to visit, as Hvar is one of the top winemaking regions in the country. Speaking of which – make time to enjoy a glass of Dalmation wine paired with fresh, local seafood. An overnight stay means you can linger over dinner as long as you’d like.

Split may even be more romantic than Hvar, thanks to its winding, narrow streets. Here, we’ll knock your socks off with an AzAmazing Evening to remember – an exclusive cello concert at the Ivan Meštrović Art Gallery.

And then, there’s the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, Dubrovnik. First, walk the impressive city walls, stopping for photo opportunities and to peer down on Old Town along the way. Then, take the cable car to the top of Srd Hill. The views of Dubrovnik’s Old Town and the brilliant blue Adriatic will take your breath away.

The rest of your time in Dubrovnik can be spent shopping, eating and sightseeing.

Thailand & Vietnam

November 30 to December 10

What’s romantic about Thailand and Vietnam? We’d say, what isn’t? Beaches. Shopping. Nightlife. Spas. And don’t forget the incredible food!

Ports like Singapore and Hong Kong offer glitz and glamor. Enjoying a cocktail at a rooftop bar as you gaze out at the city lights sounds pretty romantic to us! In Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City you’ll fall in love with unique culture, rich history and to-die-for cuisine. Don’t miss the impressive Grand Palace in Bangkok.

However, the most romantic stop on this itinerary might be the tiny tropical paradise of Ko Samui. It’s one of those “pinch me, I must be dreaming” type destinations. Pristine beaches, luscious rainforests, majestic waterfalls – even writing about Ko Samui is romantic.

Christmas Cruise

December 19 to December 27

A luxury cruise for the holidays is the epitome of romance! The Azamara Quest crew will pamper you and your loved one as we cruise the West Indies. Hit the beach in port, or relax poolside onboard. Our small ships can take you to some of the lesser-known islands in the Caribbean like St. John, the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

For the active couple, there are plenty of opportunities for snorkeling, hiking, scuba diving, golf and more.

Of all these West Indies hidden gems, St. Bart’s might be our favorite. Like Saint-Tropez, it’s a favorite among celebrities, so keep your eyes peeled behind your sunglasses for a celeb sighting! This tropical paradise has a French flair that means it’s fashionable, fun and home to some fantastic restaurants.
