The Gateway to the Land of 365 Beaches

When you spy the distinctive white baroque towers of the St. Johns Cathedral, you’ll know you have arrived in Antigua’s capital city. With a staggering 365 beaches located across the island, you can visit a new beach every day of the year. But if you only have limited time to catch some rays, take a boat tour around Antigua for a unique vantage point to find the right strand of sand that speaks to you. If you’re still undecided, Galley Bay Beach is popular and is the perfect place to put your shades on and relax under an oversized umbrella. Once you’ve soaked up enough sun, head back into town and shop ‘til you drop. St. Johns is renowned for its duty-free shops, malls, and boutiques that feature everything from haute-couture to handicrafts.

For a more active adventure, hike to the top of Mount Obama (yes, that Obama!) for spectacular panoramic views of the island or take a daytrip to Antigua’s sister island Barbuda. Whatever you decide to do, St. Johns offers a slice of tropical paradise located in the heart of the West Indies.

Explore the 365 beaches that the island of Antigua has to offer. While you could travel to a different beach every day for an entire year, an easier way to decide which one to visit is to take a boat tour around the island.

Dominating the city skyline, St. John’s Cathedral is the seat of the Diocese of the North East Caribbean and Aruba. Although the cathedral is currently undergoing renovations, the graveyard is still an interesting sight to visit for history buffs. Many of the tombstones date back to the 1700s.
