Lee Abbamonte's Guide to Mexico

Mexico is one of my favorite countries to visit. Many Americans dismiss Mexico because it’s so close to the United States or perhaps because of politics. However, the Mexico I know is fantastic. There are so many places to visit in a country the size of Mexico it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why taking a cruise to Mexico is a great idea.

When you’re deciding where to visit in Mexico there are so many coastal resorts to choose from. You can fly to Cancun, rent a car, and visit much of Riviera Maya and places like Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Chichen Itza. But you’ll have to deal with Mexican bureaucracy, laws, cars, and safety issues.

Located just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is a laid-back Caribbean jewel of an island, where everything revolves around its warm blue waters.

If you cruise down to Mexico, you can visit all of these in comfort and safety with an escorted trip. You don’t have to do any work and each day you can visit a new place. Plus, you can easily visit islands like Cozumel, Isla Holbox, and others. I love cruising because it takes the hassle out of it for me. I can just relax and let someone else do the heavy lifting.

At this point in my life, I want to minimize stress and hassles in life and especially when I travel. Mexico may well have the best food in the world and I want to sample it all without worrying about whether my car was stolen or if it’s safe to walk around a certain neighborhood at night. Cruising to Mexico puts you on the path to safety and a stress-free vacation.

If you want to visit multiple ports on the Pacific Coast of Mexico like Puerto Vallarta or other ports of call, you can easily do that on a cruise. You’ll cover the ground between while you sleep comfortably in your stateroom. Driving in Mexico is a hassle if you’re trying to see multiple places on a trip: trust me on that one. I’ve done several road trips in Mexico and it’s simply never easy.

Located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, Cabo San Lucas is one of Mexico’s leading tourist destinations.

You can also visit Baja California and the great port of Cabo San Lucas via cruise. Cabo is one of my favorite spots in all of Mexico with a ton of excursion options and amazing golf courses. Hundreds of miles up the Baja peninsula are amazing beaches and desert scenery unlike anything else in Mexico. Why drive all night when you can cruise while you sleep and wake up there in the morning completely refreshed.

Taking a cruise to Mexico is the best way to take the stress out of traveling in a place that’s predictably unpredictable. Enjoy the amazing food, music, beer, cocktails, and culture without subjecting yourself to unnecessary hassles and potential pitfalls. I truly believe that taking a cruise to Mexico is a great option to see an amazing country.
