Correct, Travel Expert!
Milk from water buffalo, specifically the Italian water buffalo, is used to make traditional mozzarella cheese. Outside of Italy, if your mozzarella doesn’t say it’s from buffalo or bufala, then it is made from cow’s milk and will usually be low-moisture. If you sail on the 8-Night Venice & the Amalfi Coast Voyage departing 14-July, 2017, you can go on the Mozzarella from Farm to Table Azamara Shore Excursions experience.
You will tour a private farm in Campania, Italy, for photo opportunities with a herd of 600 buffalo. Of course, a trip to the farm wouldn’t be complete without an exclusive tasting of authentic mozzarella at the owners’ private villa. If a cheese tasting isn’t enough, this voyage begins in Venice, Italy – home of the Fiesta de Redentore and its breathtaking fireworks display.
