Correct, travel expert!
The first-ever piña colada was served up in Puerto Rico; that much is certain. But the identity of the bartender who first mixed up the famous cocktail is a point of contention. Most credit Ramon “Monchito” Marrero, a bartender at the Caribe Hilton. In 1954, he was asked by hotel management to create a signature drink that captured the flavors of the island. After months of experimenting, the piña colada happened. Thanks, Ramon.
