The ancient home of Euclid, Caesar & Cleopatra

Just a small fishing village when appropriated by Alexander the Great in 332 BC, Alexandria grew to be a major player in the commerce and politics of the ancient world, and an important center of learning. In fact the Library of Alexandria was tasked with acquiring the world's cumulative knowledge for its collection. Here Euclid invented geometry, and Caesar met Cleopatra.

Though little remains of the ancient city, as the new one was built on top of it, it remains a gateway to Cairo, the pyramids, and the fascinating history and vibrant culture of one of the world's oldest civilizations.
