Rabbi Maller attended UCLA majoring in physics and spent a year at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, deciding then to become a rabbi. He returned to Los Angeles to pursue a Ph.D. in Jewish sociology, and started working at Temple Akiba in June of 1967. Rabbi Maller has published hundreds of articles, authored two books and is the editor of a series of Prayer Books used by congregations all over the Southwest. His children’s story appeared in the L.A. Times in 2005 and on a Muslim website in 2007. He also taught at Loyola Marymount University for three years.
