My brother and I started PerryGolf in 1984 and over the years have worked tirelessly to be creative in terms of new and unique golf travel experiences while always striving for the highest level of service. Beginning in 1999 we have chartered various ships both around the British Isles and elsewhere to permit us to deliver some of these experiences. As a result, I believe we have a particularly detailed knowledge of the requirements needed to deliver a great golf experience from onboard a cruise ship.
When Larry Pimentel, the recognized travel industry visionary and President of Azamara Club Cruises®, approached us in 2010 about developing a golf program for Azamara, it seemed a wonderful opportunity. The immersion travel concept that Azamara providesworks particularly well with the additional time needed in port to play golf and also enjoy the destination. Additionally, the quality of the ships and onboard experience match nicely with the expectations of luxury golfers, while the itineraries offered a wonderful range of golf challenges around the world.
We set out to create what we believe will be a golf cruise program that is in keeping with the high standards of both PerryGolf and Azamara Club Cruises; the goal was to achieve a seamless golf cruise experience. To that end some of the inclusions are; a pre cruise program in a hotel or resort close to the embarkation port, including golf before embarkation, dedicated golf tour manager with you throughout the pre-cruise and cruise, all golf bag handling, multiple social and dining activities exclusively for the golfers and their travel companions…the list is comprehensive.
Our goal was to create an atmosphere where we encourage the level of camaraderie and social interaction, which is the bedrock of a quality golf experience, overlaid with superior service onboard Azamara and a seamless golf experience where the golfer’s principal concern is getting to the first tee…and golf clubs are awaiting him or her.
For 2011 we have developed 7 golf voyages from Asia to Europe, each featuring a minimum of 4 rounds of golf on exquisite courses, that I believe achieve the level of golf experience we envisioned. As we move into 2012 and beyond I am extremely excited about additional new programs that we are currently working on that will help define Azamara Club Cruises and PerryGolf as the preeminent purveyors of quality golf cruises around the world.
