Falmouth, Jamaica

Falmouth, Jamaica

During the 18th century, Falmouth was once one of Jamaica’s busiest ports, but fell into decline over the years to become a relatively sleepy place, with a claim to fame of being one of the best-preserved Georgian towns in the Caribbean. But in 2011, almost $200 million was invested in this historic port to transform it into a world-class cruise destination, as is evidenced by the bustling new shops, restaurants, hotels, and numerous tours available. Choose from a climb up the famed Dunn’s River Falls, horseback riding, river rafting, swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Cove, a horse-and-buggy ride, or even a Bob Marley island tour. And for rum lovers, there’s always the Appleton Estate rum tour, where you can learn how “the pirate’s drink” is made and sample a variety of rums. Yo-ho-ho!
