Parga, Greece

Located on the northwestern side of Greece, and surrounded by mountainous countryside, the coastal resort town of Parga is renowned for its picturesque harbor, turquoise waters and vibrant nightlife. It’s also famous for its beaches—including Sarakiniko, Lichnos and Valtos—perfect for swimming, sailing, or just relaxing in the shade of an olive tree. Visit the Venetian Castle of Parga for panoramic views of the town, or for a day trip, make your way to Zagoria for its two national parks and Vikos Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. Closer to Parga, there’s also the archaeological site Nekromanteio of Acheron, which dates back to 14th century BC and is believed by ancient Greeks to be one of the entrances to Hades. For more modern pursuits, visit Parga’s many tavernas, cafés and bars for delicious Greek food, wine and ouzo.
