Peucang Island (Ujung Kulon), Indonesia

Peucang Island (Ujung Kulon), Indonesia

Ujung Kulon National Park is a peaceful wilderness of tropical lowland rainforest consisting of a small bit of mainland Java and several islands, of which Peucang is one. Tiny but delightful, it is a place for strolling through cool, green, dense forests, watching for barking deer, wild pigs, monkeys, and monitor lizards (little ones), and listening for the flapping wings of hornbills. Those who prefer their wildlife of the aquatic variety will succumb to the lure of the sparkling blue waters and vibrant reefs just offshore, where they’ll be welcomed by a spectacular array of flamboyantly attired fish.
